Winair Chooses Comprehensive Technology Package from Worldspan


ATLANTA, January 25, 2007—Windward Islands Airways International (Winair), a leading passenger airline serving destinations in the northeast Caribbean, has advanced its technology platform using comprehensive solutions from global travel technology provider Worldspan, L.P. Through a new airline hosting and technology agreement, Winair has adopted Worldspan MeridianSM, an end-to-end technology platform for airlines hosted in Worldspan’s global data center.

“After reviewing the offerings of seven providers, we determined Worldspan’s solutions and signature flexibility would best meet our requirements”, said Edwin Hodge, managing director for Winair. “Worldspan’s strong record in hosting airlines globally ensures we will have the expertise and strategic technologies to operate and manage costs more effectively in the years to come.”

Meridian technology provides Winair with all core systems required for around-the-clock operations on the ground and in the air. These include complete departure control, inventory and reservations management systems; global fares and pricing capabilities; automation of global reservations and sales processes, and airport passenger operations; and much more. Meridian includes Worldspan FareSource®, one of the most comprehensive and accurate solutions for distributing flights, fares and rules worldwide.

In addition to the Meridian platform, Winair utilizes several other Worldspan technologies, including the Worldspan InterchangeSM, an interline e-ticketing hub that supports the exchange of electronic ticket messages between airlines that hold Electronic Interline Traffic Agreements. The airline has also activated Worldspan Ticket to ConfirmSM, an automated inventory and revenue protection tool that takes action when bookings are not ticketed by the date and time designated in airfare rules. Additionally, Winair has adopted Worldspan SecuRate® Air Plus, an industry-leading, Web-based solution for managing private and negotiated fares.
