In SĂŁo Paulo, ABAV Nacional announces initiatives with international entities

Activities developed with international entities, including the synergy with the WTAAA (World Travel Agents Association Alliance), were some of the subjects addressed by the entity’s directors in a gathering at ABAV Nacional’s headquarters last week. “At the same time that ABAV expands international initiatives focused on strengthening and protecting travel agents in the industry, it stresses the importance of having foreigners visiting the continent’s largest international tourism fair”, said Antonio Azevedo, president of ABAV.

The initiative included a series of activities developed with WTAAA, such as the adoption of measures that can face the impositions of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) and form negotiation strategies. In Washington (USA), invited by the WTAAA, ABAV accepted to be part of the global representation force of its represented travel agencies, which, together, account for 85% of the world’s air ticket sales. In addition to being the first and only association from Latin America to become a member of the WTAAA, ABAV actively participated in the creation of Folatur (Board of South-American Travel Agents Associations) last year.

Also anticipating the success of the 41st ABAV – Tourism Fair of the Americas, to be held in São Paulo from September 4 to 8, 2013, nearly 4 months before the opening of the event the 2013 ABAV has already reached record booth sales, with the presence of more than 60 countries, more than 700 hosted buyers and domestic destinations as exhibitors, and a total area of 58.2 thousand square meters occupied by the event.

The Congress and the Tourism Fair of the Americas, “the best and largest international tourism fair in the whole continent”, according to the entity’s directors, represent a very important moment for ABAV. This edition, which will be larger due to the partnership with entities such as ITB Berlin, BTL, Embratur, Mtur, Abracorp and Braztoa, will be concentrated in one location for five days, materializing the work developed throughout all twelve months of the year. “The ABAV event is part of an operation strategy for the entity, which, by contributing to the sustainable development of the industry as a whole, brings together and promotes various segments and market niches comprised of 52 economic segments”, summarized Azevedo.
