Key Statements

Start 0:07

UNIGLOBE is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. We have been in business since 1981 and have 750 travel management companies in 50 countries around the world.

Segment start 0:16 / end 0:31

A number of people in recent months have asked me to comment on what our expansion plans are for UNIGLOBE internationally, so I am very pleased to be here today to announce the partnership between UNIGLOBE and Jet Stream Turismo.

Segment start 0:32 / end 0:54

Brazil is a very important part of the global market, and because Uniglobe has corporate customers in 50 countries around the world, there has been a keen interest in a partner agency to be able to service the needs of our clients when they travel to Brazil.

We are very pleased to day to announce that we have answered the need for our existing corporate customers and for our TMCs looking for local support.

Segment start: 0:56 / end 1:41

As many of you are aware, there have been two key airline industry mergers in the past 12 months. Not only have Delta and Northwest Airlines merged to form the new Delta – more recently, Continental and United Airlines have announced their intent to merge.

As a result of the fact that UNIGLOBE does business with both Continental and with Delta, we have an interest in supporting these airlines to fill planes heading to South America and vice versa. We are excited to be helping our partner airlines to increase the economic activity happening in South America, and service the needs of our clients in the region.

Segment start 1:42 / end 2:00

Additionally, the Economist magazine, in its most recent edition, released statistics for the five years leading up to 2008 showing that the country of Brazil and the entire Latin American economic sectors managed an average 5.5% growth and did this all with single digit inflation, which is an impressive accomplishment.

The magazine goes on to predict continued economic expansion in 2010 by more than 5%.

Segment start 2:02 / end 2:43

I would now like to share with you how UNIGLOBE Travel International finds its global partners. While UNIGLOBE has been in the travel franchise business for over 30 years, and we recognize and understand the global distribution of travel products, we don’t know every market individually.

We try to do our homework and find a TMC in the marketplace who understands the local area better than we possibly can from afar. Plus, with a network of 750 TMCs in 50 countries around the world, we have many clients that are coming to South America and looking for a partnership with a TMC that support their needs when they travel to and from Brazil.

Segment start 2:45 / 3:45

As you are preparing to host two of the largest sporting events in the world, namely World Cup Football in 2014 and the Summer Olympics in 2016, I want to wish you the absolute best in preparing Brazil to host a worldwide audience.

Some of you may be aware that Vancouver was host to the 2010 Winter Olympics, and we are still enjoying the economic fruits of the boom in tourism. Additionally the world cup in South Africa apparently attracted 1.4 million visitors, the majority of which were first time visitors to the country.

We believe as do our partner agencies around the world that many people will be travelling to Brazil to enjoy all of its offerings. We look forward to working with our new partner, Jet Stream Turismo, to make it a great experience for first time and repeat visitors to Brazil.
